Easier out-of-state access to Cigna PPO Network for 3-Tier POS and PPO plans

We are excited to share the details of our new collaboration with Cigna. Starting in 2023, KPIC 3-Tier Point-of-Service and KPIC PPO Insurance plan members will have access to Cigna’s PPO Network outside of Kaiser Permanente states1,2,3 — making it more convenient for them to find care when they need it.

Starting January 1, 2023, the Cigna PPO Network will replace members’ PHCS access outside of Kaiser Permanente states (California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Oregon, Virginia, Washington, and Washington, D.C.).4 They’ll still be able to get care from their PHCS providers within Kaiser Permanente states.

With the Cigna PPO Network, members will now get:

  • More locations: With a broad network of providers, they’ll have many options for care.
  • Simple check-in: In December, members will receive an updated member ID card with the Cigna logo. They’ll just show it at their visit.
  • Less paperwork: Cigna providers will get any necessary precertifications for care, so members don’t have to.

Members can visit kp.org/kpic-california anytime to find a Cigna PPO Network or PHCS Network provider near them.

Contact your Kaiser Permanente representative for more resources and information about our collaboration with Cigna.
