Frequently asked questions

How do I become the new broker of record for a client?

Can I sell a Kaiser Permanente plan in California if I’m an out-of-state broker?

Yes, with the following licenses:

  • HMO — with an out-of-state license that allows you to sell life and health policies. Commissions are payable on the HMO product.
  • KPIC — you’ll need a California life-agent license to sell insurance products, including POS and PPO. Although California allows brokers to sell health insurance with a fire and casualty license, we require a California life-agent license.
