Kaiser Permanente offers a broad and deep range of dental offerings for employers with more than 50 employees, with choices for adults only, children only, and families. Each category includes a selection of premiums and benefit richness, enabling employers to tailor their offerings to the specific needs of their workers.
All the dental plans share a robust PPO network with no need for referrals for specialist procedures. There are no per visit office visit charges and no waiting periods, so members enjoy comprehensive dental benefits on Day One.
In addition, each of KP’s dental offerings can be paired with optional enhanced cosmetic dental benefits, including full orthodontic services, implants, and more. If purchased, these orthodontic benefits cover all family members, including children.
In Maryland and Virginia, employers can enhance the KP medical coverage they offer with one of the following dental options, available for purchase as riders.
All the dental plans offer comprehensive coverage of the full range of common dental procedures, including preventive, basic restorative, and major restorative services. Additional coverage for cosmetic dental procedures, including orthodontic treatments, implants, and veneers, can be purchased through the Kaiser Permanente OrthoPlus rider.
The EPO plans combine generous or unlimited annual benefit maximums with robust in-network benefits. The PPO plans offer the freedom to visit licensed providers outside the network of participating dentists, while remaining affordable. The POS plans balance unlimited benefits when using in-plan dentists, with access to out-of-network coverage.
The low tier dental plans focus on maintaining relatively affordable premiums. The Copay EPO plan and the In-Network tier of the POS plans have no maximum annual benefit limits. They range from $1,000 to $1,500 for the PPO plans. Per person deductibles range from $0 to $50 in-plan, and from $50 to $100 for out-of-network visits. One of the plans is available for Adults only, two for Families, and the rest for either Adults or Families.
In addition, the KP Smile $30 Adult Preventive offers coverage most similar to the preventive dental plan offered through Dominion Dental.

The Copay EPO plan is designed to match the Essential Health Benefits provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), with no deductible and no overall annual benefit limit. It is most similar to the Mid-Large Pediatric Rider offered through Dominion Dental.
An additional EPO and two PPO plans offer more comprehensive coverage for preventive, basic restorative, and major restorative services, with no need for referrals. Each of the plans also includes a medically necessary orthodontic benefit for children aged 18 and under. Additional coverage for cosmetic dental procedures, including orthodontic treatments, implants, and veneers, can be purchased through the Kaiser Permanente OrthoPlus rider. In-plan annual benefit maximums range from $1,000 to $2,000, with per person deductibles of $25 or $50.
